A chapel cave, its candle light
From stars that pierce the silent night;
An Infant Victim, born to die,
Revered by angels wafting nigh.
.
Humankind, in heedless glee
Regales in mindless revelry.
From the manger-altar where he lies
God views his earth with infant eyes.
.
Christ as Eucharist born again—
Emmanuel with us, now as then.
His love which crib and cross display
Enswathes our souls on Christmas Day.
